Duel 95 Professional

Server

History

The original Duel 95 Server launched on 11 March 2011 as an on-demand Minecraft Survival Multiplayer Server. At this point the server was just a Minecraft Beta 1.3 vanilla server run in a Java console window on Windows XP. Later that year I upgraded my personal desktop computer and was able to host the server on there at the same time as playing. This worked quite well for a few years of playing the game.

In 2013, the server became a physical server machine that we built here at Duel 95. The new server was designed to run 24/7 without interruption, and it still maintains this standard today. Unlike the previous Duel 95 Server, this machine also ran Garry's Mod, Minecraft PE, Infiniminer and Team Speak dedicated server software. From December 2014 to December 2015, the Minecraft server was rebranded as Prismarine Realms which was mostly managed by Mark's Mania. In December 2015, the Minecraft server reverted back to Duel 95 Server which is maintained by the original staff from 2011.

Current Operation

The server is currently running Minecraft on a full-time basis.
The following applications are still available, but only on-demand:

  • Garry's Mod
  • Infiniminer
  • Team Speak

Minecraft PE is updated occasionally to test the Windows 10 Edition with iPads, but not regularly due to the incompatibility with PC Minecraft. Team Speak isn't full time anymore as most development players have Skype where Skype no longer negatively impacts gameplay.
